My first counseling experience was at fourteen when I took responsibility for 13 eleven-year-old boys on a Sunday morning for two hours – no one else was up for the task. But I loved it! We cooked large stews over a fire and then ate from tin bowls, while sitting on the ground. This was my opportunity to tell them stories of history, morality and the joy of life. I prepared treasure hunts with strong cryptic messages that hinted at the subject matter I needed to share. I heard their stories of loneliness at school, bullying, and their happiness and triumphs when life was loving and caring.
Since then, I have worked and thrived in different industries, allowing me to be effective and skilled in many vocations.
